Vice President, Human Resources

Position Summary: The VP of Human Resources is responsible for leading all human capital aspects of Neos Therapeutics in accordance with the policies, procedures and practices of the Company and governing laws. This VP maintains awareness of employment policies, practices and trends within the pharmaceutical industry, public companies, and the US general industries. This position will continually support and ensure compliance with ethical and collective principles of the company’s business practices, employment laws, and regulations, as required. The VP of HR is responsible for human resources strategic planning at Neos Therapeutics and provides oversight to the top-talent recruitment efforts.

Key Job Functions and Responsibilities: 

  • Plans, develops, implements and maintains the human resource function and performance goals
  • Translates the strategic and tactical business plans into HR operational plans
  • Provides staffing strategies and programs to identify talent both internally and externally for all positions
  • Advises the executive team on the impact of goal planning, strategies and regulations as they could potentially impact the interest, motivation, development and retention of employees of the company
  • Researches and develops proactive and progressive compensation and benefits programs to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective employee performance
  • Develops human resource planning models to identify competency, knowledge and talent management through proper succession planning for key contributors positions
  • Establishes and oversees the development of the company’s policies and procedures and programs as a strategic partner
  • Incorporates effective relationships with third party vendors and other associates in the area of human resources
  • Provides programs which utilize employee partnerships for the health and wellness of the staff
  • Prepares training and development programs for employees with significant responsibilities to enhance employee knowledge and understanding of the company and their positions
  • Evaluates and maintains competitiveness of all programs and practices against relevant comparable companies within the pharmaceutical market
  • Establishes credibility throughout the organization with all members of the company
  • Provides problem solving resolutions for employee concerns and issues
  • Develops effective policies, procedures and programs for effective human resources management (i.e. employee relations, affirmative action, harassment, employee complaints, external and internal career development)
  • Enhances, enforces and implements the company’s human resources policies and procedures by providing systems to improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the company (i.e. HRIS)
  • Maintains knowledge of HR policies, programs, laws and issues affecting all states in the US
  • Manages other areas such as relocation, employee communication, employee safety, health and community relations
  • Oversees the budget and other financial measures of the Human Resources Department
  • Ensures policies, legislation and procedures are adhered to: including company SOPs, 21 CFR Part 11 and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance, as appropriate to position
  • Performs other duties as required

Knowledge and Skills Required:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree required; Graduate degree preferred


  • 10 plus years of pharmaceutical/biotechnology/technology company human resource management. Experience in a public company environment a plus
  • Senior HR certification

Computer Operations: Proficient with Microsoft Office, HRIS and Payroll systems

Supervision/Supervisory Responsibilities:

Leadership: Must possess strong communication skills, critical thinking skills, interpersonal skills, interpretation and analytical skills. Must possess organization skills, time management skills and supervisory skills. This position demonstrates leadership ability by acting as an important part of the Neos Therapeutics team.

Supervision: Receive guidance with respect to general objectives; in the majority of tasks and projects assigned, determine work sequence, scheduling, and how to achieve objectives of assignments while operating within specific policy guidelines
