MILESTONES IN 2015

2015 was a monumental year for our new organization that was launch at the end of 2014.  When we look back, we think of all of the volunteer hours and support that allowed us to accomplish our mission of unifying the industry and highlighting the incredible commercialization efforts coming out of North Texas.  In 1 year, we:

Engaged key members of the industry to make the vision of bionorthTX a reality;
Engaged a Board of influential local leaders committed to our success
Built a “volunteer army” that have devoted significant time to the organization
Formed Talent, Regulatory/QA, and Events committees that are off to a great start
Gained 40 paying members to the organization!  Thank you!

Conducted a series of great events that have raised our profile and created goodwill in the community
14 bionorthTX events and participated in 10 partner organization events as sponsor or exhibitor
Open for Business event in June was a successful first event with 125 in attendance
Launched the Breakfast Forum series with well attended with great content at Baylor, UT Arlington, UNT Health Science Center
1st Annual iC3 Life Science Summit was a rousing success…275 in attendance and incredible thought leadership as presenters

Made progress toward vision of being a true hub for connecting people and companies in our ecosystem
Forged collaborative partnerships with numerous local and state organizations, including our local academic institutions
Connected numerous job seekers with local opportunities
Attended state meetings to raise awareness of what’s happening in North Texas
Connected organizations and people to each other for partnering and sales opportunities

Supported state level legislation for;
Patent Reform and the “Innovation Act” (H.R. 9), which would increase the difficulty and cost of filing a patent infringement lawsuit
Academic transferability of freshman biotech courses to 4-year colleges
Medicare Part D and continuance of access to affordable prescription drug coverage by seniors and disabled individuals

Built initial infrastructure to support the organization
Website, marketing, social media
Hired a part-time administrator
Cash flow positive for 2015!

To further support the four tenants of our mission of providing an Information Hub, Talent Acquisition and Retention, Capital Formation, and Regional Marketing and Legislative Support, we will also;

  • Improve the Website and Email Communications
  • Launch our Online Member Center and company directory
  • Launch our Jobs Center
  • Conduct Talent Committee and Education events
  • Grow our membership and statewide support
  • Conduct our 2nd Annual iC3 Summit with a goal of 350 attendees
