Externalization is a key part of GlaxoSmithKline’s R&D strategy to access early-stage innovation and promote sustainable innovation. GSK is focused on working with the academic, biotech and venture communities to develop strong, science-based relationships with a shared vision. Their doors are open to any and all opportunities to translate cutting-edge science into the next generation of medicines for patients.
GSK’s New R&D West Coast Satellite
GSK has recently opened a new satellite in San Diego to help strengthen their interactions with the cutting-edge science and expertise concentrated on the west coast and in Texas.
Areas of Interest for Meetings
GSK presence on the west coast is about making connections, finding opportunities and being a bridge to GSK’s global R&D function. They are looking for breakthrough science and will consider everything from platform technologies to new products.
GSK would like to meet with academics & companies who are advancing new programs focused in the areas of respiratory, infectious diseases, immune-inflammation, immune-oncology, dermatology, orphan diseases, metabolic pathways, neuroscience and cardiovascular. They would also like to meet with companies who have novel platform technologies that have the potential to advance GSK’s global R&D efforts. They will consider opportunities outside of the listed focus areas if they target areas of high unmet need and are based on sound science. They are also interested in the new and exciting area of bioelectronics.
If you are working in any of the areas of interest outlined above, we are setting up meetings with GSK representatives, Neil Berkley, West Coast representative, GSK Worldwide Business Development and Katherine Widdowson and David Parry from the GSK Discovery Partnerships in Academia Unit. This event is open to academic groups as well as local companies from Texas.
Meetings in Texas are scheduled as follows:
